Slap Bass, Drum and Bass Music – Silly Cyclist

Home > Music > Reconstituted >Silly Cyclist

Download Silly Cyclist on iTunes * for an action packed slap bass in your face cycling experience

*Please note this track is due to be released mid 2008.

Sounds Like: Squarepusher, Louis Johnson

This drum and bass groove features a busy pop slap bass line inspired by the early funky music of Squarepusher before it went in an industrial noise direction.

“I’ve been practicing a lot of bass since the last Apell album and have developed by pop slap technique well enough to play faster busier grooves. For bass students I would recommend Ed Freidland’s Slap Bass DVD and the Louis Johnson instructional video. I also have a Larry Graham video but he doesn’t explain things very well and simply grooves along in his very cool sailing outfit!”

The title “Silly Cyclist” comes from a comment given to me by an English tourist in Melbourne as I cycled past him on the way home one night. The fast paced music suits the crazy bicycle couriers antics you get to see in the city as they ignore lights road rules and the difference between footpaths and the road itself.
