George W Bush Tribute Song / Music - Dubya

Home > Music > Reconstituted > Dubya

Download Dubya on iTunes * to remember what George W Bush got up to when he was the President of the USA.

*Please note this track is due to be released mid 2008.

Sounds Like: Gotye, Salmonella Dub, Asian Dub Foundation

Dubya is a song dedicated to George W Bush and his Presidency of the United States of America. The lyrics throughout the track are inspired by quotes from George Bush or from his actions during the time that he was President.

The music was originally meant to be instrumental with horns filling in melodies but it was decided to add lyrics and a vocal melody to turn it into more of a pop song. The vocals on the track are performed by Jason Demillo who has previously sung in original and cover bands in Melbourne and his home town of Auckland, NZ. He can also be heard on the pop funk track So You Know

The track is produced in a reggae / dub / dubstep style with many layers of drums, percussion, keyboards, bass and guitars. There are even 2 short jazz influenced filtered bass solos after each chorus. One of the last production elements added to the track were the Arabic / middle eastern sounding acoustic guitar parts on the chorus to tie in with the George W Bush theme of the song.

Dubya Lyrics

Verse

Drilled a lot of dry holes
Causing conflict in their interest
But a love of the game
That is what got me in the business

Through excessive years and afterward
Selling supplies to work
Its nice to be considered
And be chosen again

You know that colourful antics
Make you seem a hypocrite
But now in our private time
That doesn’t matter a bit

Chew before you swallow
Or you gonna choke on that
Everyone has a choice to make
Its time to face our facts

Chorus

And never seek a permission slip
To defend what works against us
It’s better to succeed with success than fail
To defend

Verse

If you find a person that you’ve
Never seen before
You know you better report it
You know we must be sure

Second guessing is second nature
That is where we are
And even when desire is crushed
It’s never very far

We bring you justice or bring it to you
You know justice will be done
We will not tire, will not falter
And we will not fail

Now down in the dry town
Announcing in the gym
You all better report
Before it all wears thin

Dubya Instruments

Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Synths – Anthony Pell
Vocals – Jason Demillo

One Response to “George W Bush Tribute Song / Music - Dubya”

  1. Sheena Says:

This is a very cool groovy track with the percussion and funky guitars, plus the singer lets it rip in the chorus. I wouldn’t have known that the lyrics were about George Bush but when you read them once knowing what they’re about its quite clever. I like the line “It’s better to succeed with success than fail” – brilliant Bush!
